Voice commands with BT Phone
Hi everyone -
I recently purchased a 2012 Santa Fe. I have connected my iPhone (4) via Blue Tooth. Everything seems to work fine so far. I've done the "voice learning"etc...
The voice works fairly well in all modes except the Phone mode and specifically "call name". The software will either ask for a phone number or just plain not understand. And it's not my voice as the system will perform all other tasks if asked correctly. On two occasions I have seen the name function work. I reset my phone. I disconnected and reconnected to the Hyundai system. All my contacts are listed. I assume this is a Hyundai issue? Anyone else? Solutions. This one of the only functions I really need to work.
Thanks for any insight.

Santa Fe hands-free phone problem
I bought a Santa Fe in July 2011 that came with the Bluetooth hands-free phone system from the factory. This system links to your phone and downloads your contacts and uses its own voice processing logic to interpret your voice commands to place calls. My cell phone also has voice processing logic that can be used with standard Bluetooth headsets. The voice processing logic in the Santa Fe is constantly misinterpreting the name to call. The voice processing logic in the cell phone works much better. Is there a way to disable the logic in the Santa Fe and make it work like a standard Bluetooth headset?

Problem continues
I spoke to some product specialists at the Cleveland Auto Show. The indicate the issue is with the mobile phones. They seem to think the phones change so fast etc... they cannot keep up. I don't buy it as they could offer updates but either don't or can't. I don't think their interface is able to be updated.
On another note I really dislike their Navigation system in regards to finding businesses etc. So I did their $100 Nav update. I thought this would update the newest business and landmarks. Well, it still cannot. I try to use the hell out of the Nav system but 60% of the time it cannot find the landmark. Also the entire system is too hands on. The voice interface is often no help at all, so I'm taking my eyes off the road anyway. It certainly has not been worth the price.

i am a sales manager at a hyundai store and i have helped a few customers recently with similar issues. what i have found is that if you save your contacts to the phone memory or to the sim card the voice dialing does not work.
what solved the issue was storing the contacts to a gmail account on an android phone, deleting the phone pairing from the car and phone, re-pairing them and then letting them sync again.
on an apple phone i would make sure that the contacts are not saved to the sim card as this will prob be an issue as well (but might not, i am not sure).
hope it helps
