06 SONATA V6 (CRACKLING NOISE)
HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM OR KNOWS WHAT IT COULD BE. EVERY TIME I START MY CAR UP, IT GIVES OF A CRACKLING NOISE FOR A FEW SECONDS I FIGURED MAYBE ITS BECAUSE OF THE COLD BUT EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS OFF FOR ONLY A FEW MINUTES AND THE ENGINE HASNT HAD TIME TO COOL OFF, THE NOISE IS STILL THERE.
Mine was doing that too, I found out that the dealer wasn't putting in Semi-Synthetic oil, they were using regular 10w-30...once I changed it back to the semi-synthetic oil the noise went away for me.
The noise came back after using semi synthetic oil....It is at the dealer now and they are telling me that nothing can be done because there is no "recall" by law.....if you go to a dealer and you tell them you want something sone they are supposed to do it. are they not??
I had the " crackling " noise and I took my sonata into the dealership and showed them the problem, I only had to turn it on. A week later, I picked up the car in perfect condition. They changed the tensioners and they even notoiced a problem with my wiper motors, which they also changed out.

This is an updated version of a TSB issued on this topic earlier this year. The update is very comprehensive in explaining the problem, the solution and updated warranty information affecting owners 2006 and newer Sonata plus some other models. The old service procedure required removal of the engine from the car, likely why some dealers were reluctant to acknowledge the problem. New procedure is still quite involved but doesn't require engine removal.

Hey Jestic, was your car under warranty? Mine is and I think that is why they won't do anything, I have my car back now, still the same old thing...[:@]
