I am working on a 2006 3.3 V6 Sonata that hs what we thought was the usual timing chain rattle. However, doing the old mechanics trick to locate the rattle by using a rubber hose we narrowed it down to being strongest in the area of the starter. What I am wondering is if it could be the starter bendix not retracting? I can't imagine the timing chain being loudest at pretty much the very farthest point from the bracket it usually rattles against.
