Default 2006 Sonata motor noise

I bought a 2006 Sonata and drove it for two days. After the second day, I heard a noise coming from the engine compartment. The noise would only be there when I started the car first thing in the morning or after it sat for 15 minutes or longer. The noise sounds like a pinging then goes away within a couple of seconds. I think the oil from the oil pan is not getting up into the motor fast enough. It is at the dealers now being looked at. Has anyone ever had a problem like this?

that's your lifters, if you continually hear that noise while car is idoling, after the 15 minutesthen hyundai knows about the problem. get a synthetic oil change should take care of that pinging, if pinging continues let your service rep know they have tsb about it and they have to tear the engine down and it is a lengthy project, good luck!!!

It's the Timing Chain Tensioner, a known problem with the V6 engines. Have your dealer fix it (they would need a day or two for that)

Ya sonatalove is right. I just took my to the dealer and same thing. Need it for two days to fix it. But they said no big deal and not a saftey issue just needs to get replaced. I heard of the same issuse on a couple of differant forums. THe noise is while the oil pressure is building and then goes away. SHould be covered under warrenty.
