Default 2006 Sonata Shift lock

Just had my shifter locked up and had to disable the shift lock. Took it to the dealer he found bad stop light switch.. WHICH WAS RECALLED and I didn't get any recall on it....changed out the switch and everything now works OK!!

Hmmm...... are the original registered owner ?

Are you the second or more owner down the line ?

Did you ask ask the service dept fella if he will go online and update the current owner info with Hyundai Motor Company so they know who owns the car, and where it might be so you get important mail from Hyundai Motor ?

I've been waiting for the brake light switch recall on my 08 Sonota that I bought new in January of 2008. Hyundai USA certainly doesn't seem to be very thorough with their recall programs. No problems have surfaced, but the 30K checkup is approaching and I plan on asking about this item then.

Don't wait for a recall notice, go in and ask for it. I never got a letter about the brake light switch. I went in and asked for it when I started getting the "ESC OFF" light intermittently.

Default ECS off

I got that a couple of times too and also ABS light at the same time. Turned it off and restarted and didn't happen again for couple of months!
