2009 Sonata Trunk Problem
I have a 2009 Sonata Limited (4-cyl.) For some time I've had problems with the trunk latch. Sporadically, the trunk will close, but not latch properly. This causes the "trunk open" light on the dashboard to stay on, and the lighting in the trunk to remain on as well. One time when I didn't drive the car for a few days and didn't notice that the dashboard light was on, the battery died.
I was almost always able to resolve the problem by slamming the trunk down really hard a few times. Foolishly, I never bothered to have the dealer look at it while it was still under warranty. Now, of course, I'm having the problem again and slamming doesn't seem to help. I did finally get it shut, but now I'm afraid to open it again for fear that I won't be able to get it to latch again. So I guess it's off to the dealer.
Some questions: Has anyone else run into this problem? Is it something the dealer should deal with, or can I take it to another place that does repairs? Any idea on what is involved and how much it might cost? Thanks for any help and advice you might be able to provide.
