Default 2011 Huyndai Sonata Died Before 150K

I had an Hyundai Sonata which I bought brand new in 2011. I really like the car. I thought it was well laid out with plenty of storage. Gas mileage was good at 30 mpg average. It was easy to replace high and low beam light bulbs the filters were easy to get to. But from about 70000 mikes on ward the care started to use oil to the point at 130K it was using a quart every 700 miles. Then at around 120k miles there was a grinding noise coming from the car which the dealership didn't find at all. They did put a larger oil dip stick in so I could put in 6 quarts of oil instead of the original 5. Then at 149000 miles the transmission gave up and died. Mind you this was a car which was well cared for and well maintained by the dealership. So I have decided to go back to American brand of replacement car. No wonder Hyundai offers an 100000k warranty. They have to!

Put in larger dipstick? WTF does that have to to with the amount of oil in the oil pan?

My guess is, if the dealership that put in a "larger dipstick" was the one doing the maintenance, it's no wonder your car died. They don't know what the heck they are doing.

Did this dealership ever change the trans fluid?

Sorry but it appears to me it's not the cars fault but whoever did the maintenance did a poor job.

I have 142,000 on one of my 4 current Hyundai/Kia cars (my 2006 Kia Spectra SX). No problems. And all 10 of the Hyundai/Kia cars I've owned have been great vehicles.
