She's been noticing this for a while now since she's had the car since December 2010. It only happens when she turns on the car from a cold start. She turns on and puts the AC on full blast. A few seconds later, the car stops blowing air (while the engine is still running) and kicks back on working normally. I'll investigate this further over the weekend and see if the problem is 100% repeatable. I'll check and see if the compressor kicks in and out when it does this. Another quirk is the car (sometimes) makes a pinging noise when accelerating. She puts in 87 octane (mostly citgo/murphy USA brand gas) and it doesn't always happen. I read on the elantra touring forum about pinging noise and how the transmission (automatic, by the way) doesn't down shift. I know they have different engines and transmissions, but I have a feeling this might be related. Has anybody else run into these types of problems?
