Talking 2011 Sonata Smart Key battery replacement

Can anyone provide instructions as to how to open the smart key unit for battery replacement? The car is an '11 Sonata. I found the slots on each side. Is there a secret? Are there instructions? Many thanks!

Why do you need to replace the battery? The car is only a year old? Have you read your owners manual?

Default 2011 Sonata Smart Key battery replacement

Hello Nova:

Yes I have read the manual. I'd like to know how to replace the battery for when it does in fact, require replacement.

Thanks.

Both fobs for my '09 Sonata still going strong at 3 years old. How long should I expect the batteries to last?

Really? You read the manual? Did you miss page 4-11?

The fobs for my 2006 Tucson and 2006 Sedona are 5 years old and still working.

The instructions seem clear to me but if you are still having problems, I'd suggest going to the dealership and having a mechanic take care of that for you.

Best Regards

Use the right size screw head (similar to the slot size) and it will pop open when you twist the screw driver. I tried a smaller head (.250") and it didn't work. I used the one that's .375" wide. So, if I were you, I will try
to find a flat-head that's at least .350" wide. Good luck!
