Default 2012 Sonata

Warning Lights & continuous chime. ABS, Brake, Traction warning lights display and chime sounds when car is started in the mornings. These warnings disappear after car is parked for at least half an hour and then re-started.

They will come on then intermittently while going over a small bump, or sounding horn or turning on wipers. It's like the car is haunted.

So far the dealership has replaced a front speed sensor which solved the problem for a couple of weeks. Yesterday I returned it to the dealership with the same problem and they diagnosed it as a poor battery cable ground and declared it fixed. This morning the lights and chime were back.

This is very disappointing & frustrating.

I just picked up my 2012 limited and after three days the engine, traction, and battery lights flickered. Then the steering became stiff so I stopped the car in the middle of the road because I couldn't pull over (a five-lane busy road). I couldn't start the car again - the indicator lights just flickered and the engine didn't turn over.

I called road side assistance and had the car towed to the dealership, but they were closed on Sunday. I'll have to go tomorrow to see what the problem is. The car only has 80 km (50 miles) on it so far.

Let me know if you find out what was causing your problem.

No solution yet. Theproblem is very intermittent disappearing entirely during the summer months. With cold and wet weather it happens occasionally No codes on the computer. I love the car so far.

Sorry for the late reply. It turned out to be a faulty alternator. The service manager said that they're built in Japan and are usually very high quality. The failure rate is 1 in 4000 - I just happened to be that 4000.

They replaced the alternator and the battery resulting in no further problems for me. I took a 6000 km trip (approximately 4000 miles) and the car was wonderful. The best leg of the trip I was getting about 37 mpg. I was doing 70 mph with a fully packed car and 4 passengers including myself. The a/c was also on all the time.

So far my family continues to love the car so there's not much to complain about. Winter tires will cost just over $1000 (ugh).

I really do hope you find the root of the problem with your Sonata so you can fully enjoy it. I'm no expert but it seems that there is something loose along the electrical system of your car. Good luck.
