My 2015 Sonata SE is showing a flashing red light on top of the dashboard. It is located at the base of the windshield between the defrost louvers and flashes only when the engine is off. I can't find any mention of this light in the Owner's Manual. Does anyone know what it indicates?
One other question - is there any purpose for the small square blue light located overhead between the courtesy lights (other than being annoying)?
The red light is just to let you know the security system is activated.
Is this the little blue light you're talking about?
It just there to illuminate the shifter and cupholder area so you can see them better at night. It should only come on when the headlights are on. I think it's a nice feature but if it bothers you could probably pry down the assembly and remove the LED.

Thanks for the info. Odd that there is nothing in the manual (at least that I could find) telling you what that flashing red light means. And yes, that is the blue light I mentioned. I just put a small piece of duck tape over it but I was curious what the purpose was.
On page 4 | 71 of my manual it says that the blinking red light is on fact a sensor for the heating and cooling system.
