Need stereo code for 1993 Sonata
I recently boughta1993 Hyundai Sonata through a private sale. I accidently left the lights on all day and needed a boost. Now, my stereo flashes Code and won't work. Does anyone know where to go to get the code, is there a code for all Sonatas in 1993 or do I have to go to a dealership? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brad

From the looks of the no responses, I would say you need to call the dealorship for and answer..
Sorry I don't know...

Okay, I called the local dealership in which the car was purchased. The rep said that I had to bring in the car and for a fee of $69, they would grab the serial number and email Hyundai for the code.
I then figured I would do my own call to Hyundai Canada and see what they said.
Judy in Customer Care told me to:
Put the key in ignition and turn to ACC.
While holding down the #4 button (MTL written below number), turn the radio to the on position.
A vertical line and a series of dashes will appear on the LCD display, record them as they appear in the series and call her back.
Mine looked like this:
| __
| _ _ _
I then called Judy back and she was able to give me the code.
So far so good.........
I went out and entered the code and waited the 30-60 seconds Judy told me it would take, but it still won't work and I can't reset it for some reason now (even after waiting an hour and holding down the "band" button). I am wondering if I still need to do something to complete the sequence. I might go disconnect the battery and try again.

Update:
I found the radio serial number on a sticker placed on the frame for the glove box, right hand side. I once again called Hyundai Customer Care with the serial number, and they set me up with the correct code. Problem solved....now I can head out ona road trip to Winnipeg, which would have been UNBEARABLE without music....14 hours in the car.
I just want to say that the Customer Care reps were great at Hyundai.....the "steal"ership on the otherhand was terrible.....$70 for a phone call?!?!? Forget it!
