Just bought a 2006 Sonata LX v6 132k miles. I do all maintenance on my vehicles and most repairs. Not knowing what was all done, I plan to do the following:
1. Oil change and filter - I will be using 5/20 synthetic unless someone can convince me otherwise
2. Spark Plugs - not done. What are the OEM plugs, don't see it in owners manual
3. Air filter
4. Cabin filter (? I assume it has one)
5. Transmission Fluid (recommendations?)
6. Coolant (recommendations?)
7. Oil leak just above the alternator that looks like valve cover gasket (common problem?)
8. Brake inspection
Anything else?

congrats, dhauff.
I can't help you much because we have the 4 cyl engine. I will watch this thread though in the hope more details will be posted.
To get you started here is a video on how to change the cabin air filter:

Thank you
Ordered the new plugs, air filter, cabin filter, valve cover gasket, and front rotors/pads, and 12 qts of SP3 ATF fluid. Will puchase coolant, PS fluid, oil and brake fluid locally and start the process of doing a thorough fluid change.
Thanks again.

That's the way to go.
The owner's manual that I found online did not specify what kind of coolant is needed. It may require Asian Formula, but I don't know. The car is assembled in the US with parts from who knows where. Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama
