Default Problem starting 2006 Sonata

Sometimes when I try to start my car, although there is plenty of juice in the battery, the engine does not even try to turn over. All the lights on the dash are illuminated, but the engine doesn't even try to start. My garage said it was a problem with the starter so they replaced it. This morning the engine wouldn't start again, so obviously it wasn't a starter motor problem. In the past when this has happened, if I leave the car for an hour our so, then the car will usually start. On two ocassions when I couldn't start it, I called AAA to tow me to my garage, and on both ocassions when the AAA guy arrived, the car started! Embarrasing!! So this is a more than irritating fault that seems to come and go. Anyone have any ideas what my problem is. Car has 126,000 miles on clock, and otherwise has been good reliable transortation.

Finding the issue requires testing .. especially with intermittent problems.
I would say the battery sounds like it is good.
And new starter says that it shouldn't be the problem.
So, it is an electrical problem. Park/neutral safety switch?
Bad terminals or cables? Faulty grounds? Or even faulty relays.

What to do? Test each component one at a time.
Like when it doesn't start, try putting the gear selector into neutral.
Or shift gears back and forth ... park and neutral and try to start engine.

When the engine doesn't turn over, take a test light and put one side on battery neg and the other on the engine.
If it lights up then bad grounds.

When it doesn't start, locate the starter relay and switch it with another one in the fuse box.
Try to start engine.

Good luck

Default same thing happens to me

the same exact thing happens to my car 😬 No turn over, no nothing when you try to start it sometimes... one time it wouldn't start for a whole day but the wire to the starter is a little messed up so my friend cleaned it up and it's just doing its regular not start thing again... I found that if I hold the key turned a little longer than normal that it'll start up... sometimes I just have to wait it out

car is an 06 Sonata v6 3.3L with 206922 but approx 56000 on engine

That sounds like a dead spot on the commutator
The bigger the dead spot then the more often it will stop on the dead spot
And not start
The smaller the dead spot then the less often it will stop on the dead spot
And appear to be intermittent
Heat can affect it or even a whack with a broom handle

When it doesn't want to start try whacking the starter while someone has the key turned to start
If it starts up then you have got a good suspicion that it is the starter
