Default sonata 2009 driver side mirror

Happy New Year to all!
I just had a nice present(someone ripped off my left mirror-during New Year celebration...). I was wondering if anyone knows if the 2005 sonata gls model would fit mine? or does anyone know where would be the cheapest place to find such mirror.

-thanks-Nik

No, that wasn't very nice. Maybe they scarred up a really expensive car in the process.

A 2005 Sonata is a previous body series (EF) to your 2009 NF series car. I'm not even sure a 2006-2008 Sonata (also NF) mirror will fit. Hyundai did some modest re-styling on the 2009 Sonata, mostly to the front and rear facia and the interior. I would try finding a good donor car at a salvage yard, but unfortunately, mirrors seldom survive. A quick google search revealed:

http://www.fourgreen.com/store/scrip...S_REAR_VIEW_LH

This part may be just as cheap from a Hyundai dealer.

P.S. A quick look up indicates mirrors for 2006 thru 2009 Sonata are the same.

Thanks. I will go to the dealership tomorrow to see how expensive the part is

Well, if that was for just the mirror, then $150+ over the internet doesn't sound bad. I suspect the $450 was turn key with paint and installtion.

There was a Korean auto parts company that was selling swing-away replacement mirrors for the NF Sonata. They use to advertise on the forum, but I haven't seen them listed for a while. The mirrors came painted color match to existing Hyundai body colors. I'll post if the name comes to me. Maybe another forum member wil recall.

Thanks for the info. First-I believe the 450 cost includes the paint and installation.
Second-I never ordered from e-bay(how safe is it??? -and those mirrors available for 80 bucks-are black...so I will need to paint it-somewhere.
I am sure that I can install it myself(any special advice).

From http://www.hmaservice.com

Outside Rear View Mirror Replacement
- When prying with tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape, and apply protective tape around the related parts, to prevent damage.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
1.Remove the quadrant inner cover (A), then disconnect the connector (B).

2.After disconnecting the connector (A), remove the outside rear view mirror (B).

3.Installation is the reverse of removal.

Found it: http://www.koreanautoimports.com/sto...roducts_id=869

I priced out a pair for my 08 Sonata at $205. At ~$100 each for a prepainted, color matched product, I didn't think it was a bad deal. Being swing away, you can tuck them in and reduce the likelyhood of loosing another mirror. Note that there is a selecter box at the bottom of the screen to choose between the 2006-2008 and 2009-2010 series.

Good luck.

Thanks for the instructions and the link(the web site looks very good).
The only thing that I need to think about now is that the car is still under warranty...-and at this stage I am not sure that I will keep the car the whole time,so I am not sure how this replacement with a slightly different mirror would affect the warranty-but overall, I got now, pretty much all the info regarding finding "the broken part" so now I just have to make the best decision.

Thanks again for your help,

Nik--
