Default speakers

I have a 2006 Sonata GSL with the standard stereo system. I want to add a subwoofer, but I understand that I need a new head unit
because I do not have the RCA plugs in the back to plug the subwoofer in. Can anybody tell me if it is true or not? I called Hyundai and they did not know the answer. They also did not know what the watts were either.
Thanks, Bobaquil

Default RE: speakers

That is not true. You can add a sub to your factory stereo. Most amps have the ability to accept low feed (RCA jacks) and the high feed (standard speaker wire). This can be done by splicing into the rear speaker wires and running a feed to the amp. Just go to any stereo instal shop and they will tell you the same thing, after they try to sell you a new head unit.
