Shortly after i got back from a trip i started to have engine trouble. the first thing it started as was when it was in idle it would bounce between 500-700rpms. Then when i would push the clutch in the rpms would stay at about 2000. and now when i go to start my car the rpms shoot up to 3500-4000 and then it dies. anyone have any ideas????

 

My first suspicion would be a faulty throttle position sensor. I am surprized that the check engine light is not on.
