Default 2006 Hyundai Tucson Battery issue

I just got my 2006 Tucson and there was an issue with the battery holding a charge. I bought a new battery in January and it worked fine with no problems. Except yesterday I went to start it and the battery was dead, not completely dead but just would not turn over. I charged the battery and it worked again last night. This afternoon I went to start it again and it’s very dead now. I double checked and my lights were jin t left on, no corrosion on the battery and the cables are tight on the battery and the radio was not on. Is there something I am wondering what else should I be checking that could be draining the battery.

One way you might pin the problem down is to measure the voltage drop across each fuse and see which system/component is not going into sleep mode. You need to wait at least 45 minutes before doing any measuring and everything must be turned off just as when you park the vehicle. don't open any doors etc.
. Until you determine exactly which component it is ,you could pull that fuse after parking the vehicle and reinstalling it when ready to start. That should at least allow you some time to make other repair arrangements.

A little side note, make sure the rear wiper is not stuck in some position other than off . It might look OK, but check it physically.

Default My battery draining experience

I have an 05 Tucson that may have a "battery issue" - I've done some research, I bought a cheap multimeter and had it wired in parallel through the neg battery terminal wire to try to measure a parasitic draw - it's not easy because 1 fuse panel is inside the cab, drivers side door must be open, so I had to put a quick clamp on the DOOR switch, and to keep the HOOD open, it also has a switch (unknown purpose - I don't see a light) on the drivers side, about halfway down the side, requiring another clamp w/ a couple coins. These are the 2 necessary switches I believe you (Whiskey Lea) have to disable to do these tests.

And like you (hanky) mention, there is still an electrical draw for a little while - at least 2 or 3 minutes in my experience. Anyway, after I figured those issues out, I thought I was going forward on my testing and about to get some answers, I was going to resume pulling fuses 1 by 1, to see if my parasitic draw went away, but my electrical leak is apparently intermittent, and then when I went back to test for it again, I hooked my cheap multimeter up wrong, and fried it!
- I think I'm gonna buy a better multimeter and a cheap test light, and measure voltage drop across fuses - after watching example videos on Youtube.

- But I was posting here so that if I found an answer to my battery drain, I'll put it below to help others!
- Because, I've learned over the last 3 weeks that a battery drain sucks! I've taken the heavy battery out twice for testing, I've cleaned it and the terminals, painted the tray, removed the starter, tested the alternator, searched for manuals, and charged the battery many, many times. (If I drive the truck daily, I think it would start, but I don't).
