Default Broken Timing Belt

Can anyone tell me when the timing belt breaks while idling - TYPICALLY, how many valves get damaged? It would seem to me that the two pistons that were near TDC would NOT sustain any damage as those valves would be closed and thus NOT get whacked by the piston. Others would be in the middle of the intake stroke and I know I can kiss the intake valves on those cylinders good bye. Likewise with the ones that were on the Exhaust stroke. Would it be safe to assume that roughly only half the valves would sustain damage? Has anyone repaired more than one valve crash and typically what did you find for bent valves?

Sorry your timing belt broke. That sucks.
It is usually certain that at least four valves are bent and two pistons have some sort of damage.
But, it is impossible to say for certain without taking the heads off.

You need a Boroscope. Stick it down all 6 spark plug holes and do a visual.
