CV/Bearing replacement
Hi all. I have just started to replace the left outer CV and wheel bearing on my 2004 Tucson CRDi 4WD. Unfortunately the CV that I received was not correct. The technical department gave the part number for the CV which has 27 teeth on the outer shaft and 25 splines on the inboard. The CV I removed has 26 splines inboard so I have had to order another CV. Unfortunately, because I had already fitted the new boot and clip, I cannot return the item as it is classed as 'fitted' 
So I carried on and replaced the wheel bearing and will also change the anti-roll bar bushings which are quite loose. I had a nightmare getting the old outer race out of the hub carrier as the outside of the carrier has a lip and so there is no way to press on the outer bearing. After much foul language and bruising I finally got it out, but is there anyway it can be done easier?

There are some good reasons for purchasing parts on line, but there are some bad ones too.
Most shops can't afford to tie up vehicles waiting for parts so they go to local places and these days dealerships.
At a dealership they usually need the VIN , pull up the parts info and you may pay a few dollars more, but you get the right parts the first time and the quality is there,

Hard to believe since they have access to all the build info related to VIN, did they provide any explanation why this happened?
If you are referring to the bearing outer race , usually there is enough of a lip to drive it out with a bar.or punch. The critical part is installing it without putting any pressure on the inner race and possibly destroying the bearing assy. You can use the old outer race ti drive the replacement in.

I always use the old outer race to drive in the new ones on the press
They did not give any reason why it was the wrong part, just the statement that I could not return it as it was 'not new'.
I wonder if it is possible someone in the car's previous life may have fitted a different drive shaft?
