Installing a hitch (curt) on a Veracruz is very easy.

These steps were done on a LTD edition.

1. Lower Passenger side exhaust.... At the rear there is an Orange rubber hanger. Lift up on the exhaust and the bottom 2 rounded silver retainers will slide out relatively easily.

2. Behind the spare tire (follow the exhaust) is a black rear rubber hanger. Use a pair of pliers (not needle nose) and place one side of the plier on the end of the bottom retainer and the other part of the plier behind on the rubber. Squeeze the pliers together and the exhaust will come off the rubber hanger.

3.Remove the four small bolts holding the heat shield on. This exposes the bolt holding the top portion of the tow hook which has to be removed. The other two bolts that cover where the hitch screws to are easily removed. Warning, do not try to remove the NUT that is on the tow eye (facing out). It is is welded down. It can only be removed from above the heat shield on the bolt side (facing in towards center of car).

4.Put the heat shield back on.

5. With a friend (each person holding an end, or use a jack to hold the other end in position, screw in the 4 bolts (2 each side). The two screws that are closer to the butt end of the car are DIRECTLY above the hitch itself, so a straight extender didn't work. I ended up using an adapter that bends the ratchet a little bit so I could get it on tighter.

6. Reattach the exhaust to the rubber hangers.

Total time with 2 people and no hoist 35 minutes.
