Oil leak onto alternator
Because all vehicles are not the same , it is important to know the year, model , mileage and some of the recent maintenance work done.
If we were able to actually see the engine , it would be a lot easier to offer any suggestions.
It's kinda like going to the doctor and saying I have a pain. Helps to know where, when, what may have brought the pain on etc. Hope you understand, thanks..

It's the front valve cover gasket. It's leaking onto the top of the alternator. I guess I will get a new gasket and replace it. Anyone find a good sealant to put on the gasket to help the seal?
I was going to use Permatex, but if someone knows of something better, I am open for suggestions
Sorry, it's a 2012 Veracruz
I called a dealership and they told me that the person I bought this from already had the recall done.

Some engines use a gasket and some use only a gasket maker material.
There is a Permatex prodcuct called RTV black. If you need to use any adhesive with a gasket use it sparingly and make sure the surfaces are very clean.and dry.
If your engine is filled with a synthetic motor oil, there is a special Permatex (in a violet tube) product for use with synthetic oil and will hold up well.
Go slow and carefully and all should go well.

I Will look for the violet Permatex.
Yes there was a recall, i had the same issue on my 2011, got it entirely fixed for free and reimbursed for the battery and alternator i bought as well as the towing fee.
