2014 Elantra Radom misfire code
I wanted everyone to know that the dealership in Oklahoma City AutoMax was unable to pinpoint the exact reason for this code. I spent about $2,000 in recommended repairs. They said to replace the ignition coils, spark plugs. Problem came back a week later. Car I bought used no warranty, 79,000 miles on it. Then they said to replace the fuel injectors and a fuel cleaning service, nope didn’t fix the stalling issue. Came right back. I did take some auto repair classes in my earlier years. I was just being lazy because I was working so much I thought I could trust them and their technicians to diagnose the problem. Nope just parts changers work there. I remembered that a cylinder leak down test will tell the condition of the engine. It did and my compression reading were cylinder 2 @ 165, cylinder 1@ 160, 3-4 @ 155-157. Found a remanufactured engine on E-bay got real lucky on the price for 1,200 plus shipping had a damaged plastic valve cover and the crate had damage from the forklift no big deal I said. Put it in myself as I was done with the garage mechanics in Oklahoma… you don’t even need a license to work here unlike Michigan we’re I’m from you do. You can’t just buy some tools and say your a mechanic. Anyway the Radom misfire code disappeared and my gas mileage went up from 17 mpg to around 24 average mostly city.
