Default Another Newbie

Hi, name's Jon, I hail from Peoira, AZ (suburb of Phoenix) and I have been very seriously considering picking up an 08 Accent GS 5spd hatch as a solid commuter car. I currently drive a 98 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup and my wife drives our 04 Jeep Liberty. Neither of which get's particularly good gas mileage (truck gets 12-13 in city, Jeep only aboub 16-17). The Accent seems like the perfect little hatch coupe with its 30+ mpg and easy-on-the wallet price. 5spd is a must, as is AC (Arizona is HOT!) otherwise I don't really want any options except maybe a radio/stereo.

From the reviews I'v read they seem to be very well built, reliable little cars... so, is there anything in particular to look out when buying a new Accent?

Welcome Jon from another "noobie"! I drove a 2008 Accent and really liked it but it was a bit too small for our needs. It handled great and I think the car more than competes with its rivals and would be fun to drive with a 5-speed. The Elantra is also a great car if you want something a bit bigger and I really like the styling of both Accent and Elantra. Good luck with your decision!

Well... today the wife and I bought a new 08 Accent GS hatch. Got a 5spd in Charcoal Gray with black interior. Options are very sparce (which is how we wanted it) with only the Popular Equipment Package (AC & AM/FM/CD/XM radio) and cloth floor mats... that's it!!! Kind of nice to be back to rolling up our own windows and locking our own doors. hahahaha....

Anyway, hoping to get many miles to the gallon with it!
