Default Front and Rear Tail Lights Shut OFF soon after Turning ON

I need some help. This is strange, but I would bet someone knows exactly what is going on. My son has a 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE. When I turn on the lights (first click without the headlights) the front and rear lights come on as they should and then will shut off after 3 seconds or so. When I turn off and on, they do it again - usually in less time (1 second). One thing I noticed is that sometimes the lights will come on bright in the front, then dim, then go out - all within seconds. The same thing happens when I turn the light switch all the way on. Also, same thing happens when the car is running. The flashers, turn signals and brake lights all work fine. Again, this is only on the driver side as the passenger side is working fine.

Help!

It seems the problem is confined to one particular area, in which case I would start with making sure that area has a good ground connection.

I may have figured it out. Time will tell. It did not matter whether the engine was on or off.

So I thought maybe it is a bad bulb that when it heated up it shorted. So I took both out of the back and the front bulb did the same thing. So I removed the front bulb and the back two stayed on. I looked at the bulb and did not see any issue. I made sure the contacts were clean and pulled up the tabs slightly. I replaced the bulb (since I purchased a new one) and reseated it and made sure it fully twisted in place.

Now the light stays on. I have only checked for a few minutes, but I am hopeful.
