Default Heating/Cooling problems - 2007 Elantra

Hi, I'm new here, have a concern with my car:

I bought a 2007 Elantra at the end of May, noticed that when I had the a/c on, it worked great on the highway, but if I got off and had to stop at a light, it would blow hot air, had to wait several minutes before it got cold again.

Now that the colder weather is here, I am having the opposite problem with the heater. When I am on the highway, gets quite warm, as soon as I get off the highway and stop, it blows cold air. When I drive away from the stop, it starts to blow hot air again right away. Sometimes it will only blow cold air on the passenger side and sometimes, on both sides.

When I start the car up, and just idle in the driveway,it doesn't warm up very quickly, have to start to drive to get it to warm up a bit.

I don't think it is the thermostat, must have something to do with a sensor or some type vacuum.
I have taken it to the dealership 2 times now, they tell me they can't "duplicate my concern".

Can anyone have any ideas on this problem, starting to get pretty cold here now...

If you can drive around with the service writer from the dealer and demonstrate your problem, that may convince them that the concern can be duplicated.

Some cars, especially those with 4 cylinders, have AC that doesn't perform as well at stop lights; there just isn't enough power at idle versus the heat generated by the engine. My 05 Elantra does get a little warm at stop lights.

However, I haven't seen a problem with it blowing cold air in the winter. Be persistent with the dealer, or, if possible, go to a different one. There is nothing that says you need to get warranty work done where the car was bought.

Doohickie is correct, dont allow the dealer to tell you that they cant fix the problem, that is what the dealership is supposed to do..fix problems and service your car...
