I want to know how the forward collision avoidance camera works. Not just what is in the owners manual. How does it recognize the car ahead and how does it detect the distance. This is not the radar system, but camera only..

If you google Lidar , I believe there is plenty for you to learn and hopefully answer your questions.

Most new vehicles sold today use Radar and Lidar plus cameras and sensors in the most unusual places
Think about how your lane keeping feature can't work properly if you have a dirty windshield or poor cleaning wiper blades.
