Default Radio problems

New member and yes I have a problem. Bought an 03 Tiburon GT for my son which he loves. We put a new radio in and itgreat for about 2 weeks. Came home and said all he gets is static out of the speakers. Went and check it out he was not kidding alot of static sounds like blown speakers. I really don't think he blew the speakers but what about the amp. Anyone have any ideas.

The OEM amp is located to the left of the rear passenger seat, behind the trim. I really don't think it's the amp, though. I have a Tibby amp in my Elantra and I abuse it pretty well and it's held up so far.

If you only had the radio in for a short time, I wonder if maybe you used twisted and taped connections or some other method that may have shifted/slipped to where wires are touching that shouldn't be? My first step would be to take the radio back out and check all the connections. Personally, I used to just twist & tape connections like that, but now I solder and heat shrink them. They NEVER come apart or short out then.

Default RE: Radio problems

I thought the same thing so I took out the radio and put in the original it does the same thing. I guess I will have to track it down the hard way. I was just hoping I would not have to take out the back quarter pannel. Thanks for your reply. My son just got home now his check engine light is on. My reader only goes up to 2000 models so I guess I will go to Auto Zone and see if they can give me the code.
