So I am back to driving Hyundai again
Many years ago when I started working this new Korean brand started selling cars in our country ... the logo looked like funny sideways H and everybody told me to stick to either buying German (Opel/VW) or Japanese (Nissan/Toyota/Honda).
Needless to say I ignored the advice and being a cheapskate I got a 1996 Elantra GLS.
A few years later I got married and had a kid and while perusing the classifieds during lunch time I saw a 1998 Tiburon in white on sale at the local dealer for a good price.
Needless to say I called the wife and asked for permission to trade in the Elantra for it ... "but honey it has only two doors" ... I just ignored her
.
2 yeas later another kid arrived and I realized how long the doors were when trying to exit at the daycare center and how hot it got in the back with the large hatch window even if it was tinted.
Responsible dad then sold the Tiburon and got another 1998 Elantra GLS ... sadly a persistent oil leak and blown headgasket made me sell it as it at the local scrapyard.
Then bought a Toyota Corolla Hatchback and later the sedan as I got older.
Two years ago as the eldest kid turned 16 I bought a Chev Sonic hatchback (sadly not the 1.4RS) to drive and wait to give to her when she turned 18 (legal limit to drive).
Well that plan lasted until GM announced they were leaving our country and selling Opel to Peugeot ... so cue a tanking resale value ... it is like owning a SAAB all over again.
So stuff it ... went to the local Hyundai dealer last week and signed for a new 2017 Tucson 1.6T.
So much awesomeness.
But the wife is already eyeing my ride ... she has a Polo (a VW a tad smaller than a Golf).
