Default Throttle Body Cleaning

My Canadian Tuscon is 3 years old next month. It has 36000km on it. At the last 3 services (done religiously every 6000km), the service department says I should have the throttle body cleaned. I use Tier 3 gasoline as recommended in the owners manual and fuel injector cleaner at least once a year. The throttle body cleaning does not appear in the service section of the owners manual. Researching other websites (not Hyundai) indicates that such a service does not need to be carried out for quite a few kilometres yet. I have told them not to do it. Hopefully it won't affect the warranty. Any recommendations?

Some things are not measured by mileage alone..
If the vehicle engine has run without the vehicle moving the wear, exposure is still there.
If they are taking care of your vehicle and you live a distance from the shop, might be worth having it done by them.

Default Throttle Body

I live in a small community on Vancouver Island. My Tuscon is rarely in stop and go traffic. A twice a week I do a 50km round trip on the highway, twice a week to the local shopping centre ( a 10 minute drive away but not through heavy traffic). Engine runs very smoothly. No stumbling on acceeration or idling (which it doesn't undergo often). So I don't believe I am putting the engine under extreme duress.

Sometimes ,,,,,,,,,,,,,because of system design the throttle body will get a little gummed up. Quality of gasoline doesn't get into the picture here.

The only reason they are probably recommending the service is because they saw some problems from other similar vehicles in the past.
You could have it cleaned or you could wait . Maybe your vehicle wont develop any problems. .
