2016 Santa Fe Limited with a sporadic "no crank" problem
#12
This started out as a sporadic problem but it is now a constant problem.
The vehicle has not cranked at all in a few days now even though both keys will allow the Start button to go to ON but still not crank.
Both key fobs have had a new battery installed and both of them will allow the Start button to go from Off to On but neither of them will start the vehicle. We have tried each of them separately while the other fob was safely out of range inside the house.
I now plan to drop the lower front splash panel so that I can try sending voltage directly to the starter solenoid.

At this point we don't know where the loss of OK to start is.
If you get a chance to read this before attempting to jump the starter,
Just because you may be able to get the starter to operate is no guaranty power is getting to the vehicle computer which controls fuel supply to the engine and power to the ign syst. This may be a little more involved than anticipated..

Yesterday I was able to remove the starter so that I could bench test it.
The starter motor itself tested good but the solenoid tested bad. We will replace the starter and solenoid as a unit and hope that it corrects all of our problems.
Thanks a lot Hanky, you were GREAT!!!
