Default After coupler replacement, steering wheel won’t turn.

Hi Hyundai owners and mechanics,

I replaced coupler for my 2013 Hyundai Sonata, but when I turn on the car, the steering wheel won’t turn. I also tried turning while ignition but the steering wheel still locked.

Any idea what’s going on?

I have no idea of what you removed to do the job.

On assembly,,,,,,,,,,something you must keep in mind, the steering wheel needs to be in the center of it's field of travel or the clockspring under it will be destroyed.

The same applies to the steering box unit..

If you placed the entire steering system in the center before disassembly, it would have saved you a lot of this type problem.

I presume you mean the universal joint that allows the steering shaft to operate at an angle when you state coupler.
If you do the things mentioned previously, they don't take long, you should be OK. We just hope no damage was done to the clockspring under the steering wheel that provides the electrical path for the air bag and any controls available on the steering wheel itself.
