Default Battery Light and overheating Sonata

Hi

Have a 2003 4cyl. Sonata

Suddenly the battery light is on, the shows that it's overheating (into the red) within 1.5 mile from home. Fan blows, but no heat or AC.

Also, after having to get a jump (brand new battery) now the speedo and tach are stuck at 40 mph even when the car is shut off...

Um, thoughts?

Thanks
Tex

Default RE: Battery Light and overheating Sonata

Hi Tex,

First thought is possibly the drive belt to the alternator/water pump has broken or come loose. Check this out first and adjust or replace as neccessary.

Regarding the speedo stuck at 40 mph and the tach. I havn't any real idea what could be causing this unless it it is due to the overheating.

Best of luck

Chris.
