Default Brake Pads and Rotors ?

I have a 2005 Hyundai Elantra with 53,000 Miles. Approx 8 months ago my local mechanic installed new rotors and pads on all wheels. Last night there was that metal to metal sound! Now, he probally put on OEM from NAPA. Question, brakes obviously last longer that 8 months (approx 50 miles per week). Are there specific rotors and pads that should go onto this vehicle?

Thanks

as long as your aftermarket brake parts meet OEM specs (and they all do unless its some ultra cheap crap) you're fine. some last longer than others, but end of the day brakes are brakes.
