output sensor 2006 Tucson
Wife's car suddenly began jerking and rpm was jerky too, she had to pull it over. We ended up getting it towed. Check eng. light came on , shop said the output sensor was bad. The car did the same thing the second day we had it, (2 years ago) they said the oxygen senson was bad. Are these common things with this model? What does the output sensor do?
Probably it refers to the transmission output sensor, which is mounted to read the rotation of the axles. The transmissions are all computer controlled now. Yes, they fail, but usually not too often. Sounds like yours was under warranty.
A bad oxygen sensor won't make your car jerk around like that, it usually makes the engine get bad mileage.

Thanks for the info. Yes, its under warranty, but she's almost at 36000. The shop people told me they had to order the sensor and that I could take the car until it came in. The also said it was okay to drive as long as the check eng. light isn't flashing... I had a FIT! My wife almost crashed the car it was driving so bad and they told me to take it home and drive it!
Not a very good parts department if they have to order it. They probably have one on eBay which would fit. Also, you didn't specify what engine you have or if you have 2WD or 4WD:
