If it was a dealer1300 miles away, I would still give them a call.
There were times if you bought a new vehicle from a dealer at place A, place B felt you didn't buy it from them and they weren't obligated to you.
Don't know if that feeling is still a live and well, we hope not.

Keep checking , you will eventually find a shop that has received training and should be able to answer your concern.
You might be able to check the wiring diagram, if you can get one, and it might show where the answers you seek are located.
You will need to find a shop that has access to wiring info and they may be able to come up with an answer. Not too many shops are into electrical work especially Hybrids.
Dealerships are usually required to have someone trained on a particular vehicle or they cannot do warranty work and get paid for it.
