Default Trouble in First Gear

I have an 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT and the problem I'm having is that in first gear it seems to be that I have vary little room to get the thing into gear. I have like about 1 1/2 inches to move the clutch peddle up before it will start to stall. I'm either revving the engine up to about the 3 mark or I start off slow enough to get it rolling then hit second. I was thinking maybe the peddel just needs an adjustment but not to sure. Thanks in advance for all that help

These cars are notorious for the slave cylinder getting hung up with gunk in the hydrolic fluid. My advice is for you to bleed the hydrolic clutch fluid super clean. Even take the slave off and clean it out that way too. It's about a 15 minute job that cost $5 in brake fluid that can save you a $1000 clutch replacement.

also to add to that, if you take the clutch cylinder apart and find some crap on the cylinder or the bore, clean it off with a very high grit sandpaper such as 1000 grit. that'll avoid destroying the finish and you'd be surprised how quickly 1000 grit will take that gunk off. this also works on brake cylinders.

Thanks a lot guys. Jsinton You just saved me a lot of time and money. Zero thanks for the sand paper idea. I would have probably tried with just a rag lol.
