Wierd Signature at dealer service
Okay, I took my Tucson into my Hyundai dealer for periodic maintenance. Everything was normal until checkout. That’s when the service rep. leads me to the cashier’s cubicle. While we waited for another rep. and customer to leave, I noticed that my rep. seemed nervous.
When we stepped up the cashier’s counter, the rep. puts down a 1/4 inch thick packet of paper. I said to myself, “Just for an oil change?” The top sheet was a copy of the parts and labor invoice for the oil change. Similar to invoices I had seen at previous service at this dealer. He asked me to sign it, and I did. He then slid the invoice up about an inch. Under it was a pink sheet, stapled to the rest of the paper, with another signature line at the bottom. While keeping his hand flat on the papers so I couldn’t move the invoice covering the pink sheet, he said, “Sign it.” Without thinking; I did. As I tried to look at what I had just signed, the rep. pulled the papers away and handed them to the cashier. The cashier immediately shoved them under the counter. The rep. left, I paid the bill, got my keys, and left the dealership.
In hindsight, what happened makes me nervous. I’ve never seen this before. It seems now as well-rehearsed actions of two people pulling something they would be embarrassed about if caught. Why go the effort to hide the packet of papers with the pink signature sheet?
My wife is UPSET! Call the Police. Call a Lawyer. Call the bank for mysterious withdrawals. Call Hyundai USA (possible scam to rip Hyundai off).
Okay, can someone please explain why these two people might do this? Maybe it is a “no problem”, maybe I need a lawyer, or maybe someone should tell Hyundai.

There is no harm in going back to the dealer and requesting a copy of everything you signed. Maybe you signed for work that was covered by warranty. In either case when everything is on the up and up they will explain what was done. If not, it's not unusual to be suspicious . Many people will sign anything without knowing what they are signing and nothing is wrong, but NEVER be afraid to request a copy of what you are requested to sign. And,,,,,,it's a good practice to ask , "What is this you are asking me to sign"? Then look it over before signing it.
