02 accent-charcoal canister removal
Just purchased this little beauty
from a grandmom type with 30K miles on it while searching for a replacement bike that was recently totaled...... I couldn't resist. Anyway it suffers from slow fuel fill problem which I gained a ton of info from this site. I want to drop the canister assembly & can get it to dangle but it seems to be attached in the center. Does anyone have a suggestion. I can even shift it side to side but it won't drop. I thought it might be attached to the trunk but when I checked there's nothing there.

Problem solved....at least the removal part. Once I removed "ALL" the tubing lines it wiggled right out. There was 1 I didn't see originally. There was a bunch of pellets in most of the lines. The filter was remarkably clean & when I blew into the connector end there was little restriction so that's 1 less thing I'll need to buy. My game plan is to make little wire mesh filters for each of the large tubing ports which will prevent this in the future.I lost some pellets while working on the canister & plan on using it again one I replace the rotted metal tubing housed in the canister holder area. I'm hoping the purge valve isn't jammed with pellets as I'd get my mechanic to drop & clean that....too much to do in the drive. The beat goes on.........
I have attached a few diagrams for the fuel tank in your vehicle that may help you see how this canister is attached. If I had a VIN I could determine which one is specific to your vehicle but I do not have that information. If you want to use OEM parts for this job you will need one of the following parts but a VIN is needed to determine which one is needed: 31420-25700 (CANISTER ASSEMBLY made by Hyundai. #3142025700) or 31420-22900 (CANISTER ASSEMBLY made by Hyundai. #3142022900).
