when I was testing the fuel pump on a no start condition, I removed it from the vehicles' fuel tank, reattached the wires, moved the float arm up and down,and watched the fuel gauge on the instrument panel correspond to the float arms position. is this action/ reaction an indication that the fuel pump is working? I thought about submerging the fuel pump is a bucket of water to see if the fuel pump reacts the same way it's supposed to when submerged in gasoline. I've also narrowed down the no start condition to a crankshaft position sensor.

 

That sounds like the fuel level indicator and not the actual pump.
Anyway, sounds like you found what's wrong.
