Hi,

I was facing a problem while shifting gears specifically 2nd, it gave a grinding sound as if the clutch has not engaged.
The mechanic told that the pressure plate has worn out, as the same was replaced just 7000km before I raised a doubt.

After detailed inspection the guy told me that the gearbox housing is leaking and as they have dis-assembled the housing cannot refix it and I have no option but to replace it. whooping cost of rs.17000.

I want to know how are the two related, can I not fix the housing leak and re-assemble it.

First- I am not familiar with your particular vehicle's gearbox, but I can tell you if there was a pressure plate problem it would affect all the gears not just second gear.
When we have a gear clash problem it usually is caused by a broken bronze blocking ring also known as a synchronizer ring . As far as the leak is concerned it depends where it is and if something other than seal replacement is called for.
It is possible your mechanic is not that well versed/experienced with transmission repairs.Might need to have another mechanic check it for you.

There is an old tsb fix for this concern. Kit has gears , synchros, and blocking rings. Fixes the 2nd gear clash problem
