Default Loud engine noise 1.6L

Hello, I am new to the forum but would like some help. I have a 2001 Accent 1.6L DOHC motor. I have had a loud noise from the engine whenever it is on for a while now. Hyundai told me I had a cracked Exhaust manifold and they wanted $1500 to do the work ( Recall for 96-00 models). Well i finally found one and put it on and the noise still exists. The manifold i took off was cracked but I do not see any other holes in the exhaust system after starting the car and crawling all up underneath it. It seems when i let off the gas when driving that it lets off excess air pressure as well. Any ideas?

sounds to me like it might just be an exhaust leak all together

Default Fix

I ordered a whole new front ( FLex) pipe and installed it. That was the problem. It is hard to tell if the flex is broken untill the cold weather showed me the leak.

Hi Lisa
There could be many reasons for unusual noises coming from an engine.
Your best bet would be to have a good shop or dealer at least check your vehicle before it gets much worse.
Some were involved in a recall for debris left in the engine and required engine replacement. Depending on what the noise is coming from will have some bearing on what steps need to be taken.. I wouldn't wait to have this checked out ASAP.
