2007 Hyundai Azera Limited Transmission Carrier Bearing Failure
Hi, I had the drive axle and CV boots replaced in April 2019 for a leak. Last week (Dec 2019) I noticed transmission fluid leaking again. So the dealership replaced the seals. It leaked again. They did a warranty repair and re-replaced the drive axle and seals. It's still leaking. They are now telling me it is the carrier bearings inside the transmission that are failing and causing the leak. They are telling me I need a whole new transmission at the cost of nearly $4,000.
Although, the vehicle is 12 years old, it only has 77,000 miles. Does this seem like a reasonable failure at this low mileage?
The service guy at the dealership says that they can't just replace the carrier bearings, they have to replace the whole transmission.
Any suggestions? I don't see any recalls for this issue anywhere.
Is it worth fixing?
Am I being taken advantage of?
Should I just get a new car?
Thanks in advance for your help.
