Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Default 02 Elentra, brake drums

I recently had to do some head scratching while trying to trouble shoot a problem with my 02 Elentra. At first I thought it was the brakes zas the noise started out as a loud squeal when braking but I had a complete brake job done three or four months ago. Then I thought the rear bearings had gone as I had a loud metal on metal grinding noise at low speeds and when turning corners. I could also feel a slight wobble in the right rear tire when driving.
I tried changing the brake drums at first at it seemed the right rear drum was warped but that did not help. I next used a rust remover and wire brush but that did not help either.
It turned out it was the brake drums were causing the problem. The car is not driven daily and can sit for a week at a time but the build up of rust on the brake shoe tabs and along the ridge on the inside of the drums were casuding this problem.
In the end I had the drums milled down to remove the ridge on the inside of the drum which took away the noise.
