I have a 2009 Hyundai Elantra and the stock radio's volume **** isn't working correctly. When I turn the volume up or down sometimes the audio itself will fluctuate going either the direction I'm turning, the opposite, or just not doing anything. Is there a mechanism in the radio I could clean out or grease up, is it just the **** itself, or will I have to replace the whole stereo?

Volume controls are only a simple rheostat,varying resistance.
If it is worn internally, replacement is necessary.

There could be another problem that should be checked and that is the connections to the speaker(s). Any poor or loose connections can produce similar symptoms.

Internal radio parts are not that easy to find these days.and maybe a radio shop would be a wise consideration.
