So Elantra won't start this morning. I'm a Chevy guy so Hyundai's aren't my specialty. Trying to diagnose it so I went all over the internet and forums and I am at a roadblock. I replaced both camshaft sensors A and B.
didn't start. So I started checking voltages on camshaft sensor A (furthest away from firewall). I have 7 volts on the center pin and 12v only on one side of the outside pins. Same measurements for sensor B. Any ideas on what I can check next?

 

There is a good chance that there is a problem involving the VVT system (Variable valve timing).

It could be connections or maybe the solenoid that regulates cam position or a phaser problem. Without a capable scan tool, you can get into a rabbit hole replacing good parts.
Suggest you have a competent shop do some checking and provide a reason and cost to repair.

 

Do you or anyone know where the wire for the camshaft A goes? Hoping to at least look for a bad connection at a plug or something but looks like it's a trip to the shop.

 

The camshafts are monitored by the sensors who in turn relay their position to the PCM ( Powertrain Control Module) When signals are not rational or non existent the PCM will notify the operator by way of a code or codes. It is up to the tech to determine just what is or is not happening

 

This is why I like my older Chevy. Nowhere near as much computer crap. Thanks!

 

Something to think about,

There are times when a bad alternator will put out bad electronic signals that caused false camshaft codes to appear. that should give you some idea of what you are working with these days.
