i want to buy a performace chip that will help my engine but should i and are they cheap and safe...

What do you want to do with your car? What do you mean by helping your engine? Is it not performing the way you want it to? Cheap is a relative concept and an upgraded ECU usually is not as safe as a stock. But, the most important question is still what your goals are.

Real chips that increase performance aren't cheap. Cheap chips cause damage. So do you want cheap or real performance?
