Help with 2010 Elantra rear brakes
My son bought his first vehicle a few weeks ago with is a 2010 Elantra. The brakes started to make a grinding noise. I removed the front wheel and saw the pads almost new. So I removed the rear wheel to find the rear is just a drum system - it has no caliper - just a drum brake. I can't get the drum off though. I searched google and youtube, and everything I could find is the rear should have a combination of drum (for the emergency brake) with a caliber for basic braking - but again I only have a drum system on the back.
First question - is that normal/stock to have just a drum rear back brake? Second question - any advice how to get the drum off - I smacked it many times with a hammer but it is not budging - I also looked to see if the front of the drum has a hole to be able to adjust the tension of the pads but there is no hole like that - the front only has 2 smaller holes which I believe may at once had screws but no screws there now?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
