Default iPod Cable Required?

I've just purchased a 2013 Elantra (without a nav system), taking delivery later this week. I can't seem to find a clear answer as to whether or not a specialized Hyundai iPod cable is required to use my iPhone 4 for music.

Furthermore, if the Hyundai cable is required, can it be used in conjunction with the Apple Lightning Adapter? Eventually, I'll upgrade to a new iPhone and want to make sure all bases are covered.

Yes, it is required. Unknown if the adapter will work but I don't see why it would not.

Just took delivery on my Elantra. Happy to report that they Hyundai cable is not required. Connecting my iPhone 4 into the USB port with the Apple 30-pin cable works fine. Media information shows up on the display, and steering wheel controls work too.

Hope other future Elantra owners find this useful.
