Key wont work in door lock after had to break in

Key wont work in door lock after had to break in
one of my co-workers cant lock her car 04 Elantra. she locked her keys in the car and we pulled the top of the door out enough to slide a hanger in the door and hit the door lock switch to unlock the door. well we got in but now her key wont open unlock the door, either door. she dont have the fob anymore is there a way to reset the system?
